CPBC Standards

The province of British Columbia regulates the profession of selling travel through “ConsumerProtectionBritishColumbia” (CPBC), which means that by law, any person or business that provides travel services to the public in BC needs a license.

Operating under SATT’s CPBC Business License Number

It is important to understand that every agent must show the information related to the CPBC business license publicly.

Our agents will be using SATT’s CPBC license number.
This means that you always have to show the contact details as it relates to our main office in BC.

*Please note that as per CPBC regulations, you can not make ANY REFERENCE TO YOUR PHYSICAL LOCATION!

Example: You can not add to Facebook or your signature that you are serving the area of Kelowna.

 

This affects BC agents joining Starfish & Teacups Travel in 5 areas:

1. Your Invoices

2. Your Marketing Materials

3. Your Social Media (Business Pages)

4. Your Signature

5. QR Codes

All invoices produced by agents in BC must include:

  • CPBC License #
  • Business phone number related to the license
  • Address related to the license

2. Marketing

Any marketing (business cards, flyers, etc.) produced by agents in BC must include:

  • CPBC License #
  • Business phone number related to the license
  • Address related to the license

3. CPBC rules for Social Media Platforms

 You must show your CPBC info (CPBC license#, Business phone related to license #, address related to license #) on your business social media pages:

FB business page – About Us section

LinkedIn business page – Profile Section

Instagram business page – Bio Section

Your Facebook Business Page name must reflect this clearly – your name with Starfish & Teacups Travel.

Some examples are:

Jane Doe, Starfish & Teacups Travel

Jane Doe at Starfish & Teacups Travel

Jane Doe – Starfish & Teacups Travel

Jane Doe with Starfish & Teacups Travel

Your email signature MUST show the following:

  • CPBC License #
  • Business phone number related to the license
  • Address related to the license

5. QR Codes

Regulations regarding QR codes on business cards and marketing materials:

The QR code would not replace the requirement for the license number to be provided on all web or print media.
However, having the address or phone number does not need to be printed directly on the card, and could be accessed through the QR code.
